U-SNAP-BAC Music on the Green Celebrates Detroit Community and Its Living Infrastructure

U-SNAP-BAC MUSIC ON THE GREEN CELEBRATES DETROIT COMMUNITY, INVITES PUBLIC INPUT ON A LIVING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE FUTURE

DETROIT, Sept.5, 2017 – The public spotlight will turn on a unique development that features living infrastructure when U-SNAP-BAC presents Music on the Green, Sept. 24 in Detroit.

U-SNAP-BAC (United Streets Networking and Planning; Building A Community), a not-for-profit organization incorporated to revitalize the east side of Detroit, presents Music on the Green in answer to community interest that was sparked after the initial announcement of phase one planning for their Barham Farmway & Greenway project earlier this year.

Music on the Green runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24 on Barham Street between Mack Avenue and Windsor Street. The  event is designed to bring community members together and introduce to them the future possibilities for the Barham Farmway and Greenway.

The free, family friendly event features food and music and is designed to celebrate community. It kicks off with grower demonstrations and flower bulb planting, followed by a brief presentation about the Barham Farmway & Greenway development. Concert performances follow from Straight Ahead and The Sun Messengers.

Music on the Green is possible thanks to the generous support of Enterprise Community Partners. The Barham Farmway & Greenway Project is being developed by U-SNAP- BAC with  support from The Kresge Foundation. The project will transform Barham Street into an asset that connects the neighborhood and provides agricultural opportunities for local growers.

During Music on the Green, all members of the community are invited to review, comment, and vote on potential ideas from community members & technical teams who will present several ideas for the first phase of the project.
